This gum is produced in Somalia and is collected by the native workers making incisions to the tropical tree which bleeds to form brown 'tears' of the crude gum. This is then sold for currency and shipped to the UK for distilling. It has similar uses to Myrrh and is an important component in quality perfumes and fragrances.
