Distilling Lemons
During the beautiful spring day, we fired up the distillery to replenish our Lemon hydrosol stock. With the delightful smell wafting through the distillery, the sun shining everyone had a smile on their face. We also had the added delight of producing some steam distilled lemon oil, producing just over 3 litres.

German Chamomile Seeding
German Chamomile seeding for this year has been completed and has been successful. The plants are growing and looking well. To seed the German Chamomile we sprinkle the seeds on the bare soil, just before a little bit of moisture is due to arrive, for an effective germination.

Keeping it in the Family
Ken and Debra’s daughter Kim has recently come back to work alongside her parents. Having been away at university and then working in Cambridge. Previously Kim has run the distillery throughout the summer holidays, will now be undertaking a more technical role, but also looking at social media and marketing.

Summer 2010

Organic Lavender Floral Water
We now have available our own distilled Organic Lavender Water. We attained soil association certification for our distillery during the summer of 2008 and have distilled this from a contract customer who is growing organic lavender. 2009 Outlook
2009 has started with some very cold weather which has delayed the spreading of the distilled herb waste back onto the fields, this action not only replaces organic matter back into the soil but also has some nutrient value which with the high costs of fertilser at the moment is a welcome alternative.
